Counterfeit Cash for The New York Times

I expected the differences between a real $100 bill and a counterfeit one to be more drastic than these I saw on assignment. This money fooled me.

I headed to the United States Secret Service Atlanta Field Office last month and met up with an agent who showed me boxes and boxes of seized counterfeit money. The colors, textures, wear on the bills was so convincing, save for one stack of crisp yellow bills.

They will all be shredded.
